Linköping University's official social media accounts are administered by the university, which is a public authority.

The purpose of our social media channels is to provide information about the university's activities, research, education, student life and events, and to engage in dialogue with students, staff, alumni and the general public.

These rules apply to Linköping University's official social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, Threads and other platforms where the university is the publisher.

Please keep the following in mind when posting content

Content you publish on the University's social media channels may be visible to other users and, depending on the platform's features and settings, may also be accessible to the general public.

If you choose to publish personal data about yourself in a way that makes it accessible to anyone other than the University, you will be deemed to have consented to that information being available through the relevant social media platform.

Please do not publish:

  • sensitive personal data
  • personal identity numbers
  • confidential information
  • protected personal data
  • information concerning another person's private circumstances
  • material that you do not have the right to publish

Official documents and public access

Linköping University is a public authority and is subject to the Swedish principle of public access to official documents.

Posts, comments, messages and other content sent to the university through social media may constitute official documents. Such material may be registered, recorded, preserved or disclosed in accordance with the principle of public access to official documents and other applicable legislation.

Moderation

We welcome questions, opinions and discussions related to the university's activities.

The university monitors and moderates its official accounts on an continuous basis during normal working hours.

To maintain a safe, relevant and factual discussion, Linköping University may hide or remove content that:

  • violates Swedish law
  • contains threats, harassment or personal attacks
  • contains hate speech or other discriminatory content
  • contains confidential or privacy-sensitive information
  • infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights
  • contains advertising, spam or repeated publication of the same message
  • is unrelated to the university's activities or the ongoing discussion
  • contains links to websites whose source or purpose cannot be identified or reasonably assessed

We may also remove comments intended to spread disinformation, fraud or malicious links. The same applies to content containing clearly incorrect or misleading information about the university's activities that risks misleading other users or seriously disrupting a factual and constructive discussion.

Blocking

Users who repeatedly violate these rules may be temporarily blocked from the university's social media channels and referred to the university's regular contact channels via email, telephone or post.

Decisions to block users are made following an overall assessment of the user's conduct.
