My research is situated within the areas of the sociology of education and critical welfare studies, focusing on the relationship between welfare institutions and various social groups. The main research interest is how political reforms affect institutional conditions and how these reforms shape and are shaped by human (inter)action. A particular focus is directed towards research questions regarding governance and organization through educational reforms and policy ideas as well as the implications for education and its actors. The research highlights broader issues regarding societal change and the role of education (in comparative education and curriculum theory).
My thesis focuses on shifts in ideas, norms, and values regarding teacher professionalism and institutional as well as social conditions as reform ideas are negotiated, translated and contested by various actors, such as teachers, teacher assistants, and policymakers. This brings to the fore issues regarding, for example, role conflict and shifts in responsibility and accountability, as well as different views on time and temporality. The thesis highlights educational governance through policy ideas and discourses within and across transnational, national, and local levels in the Swedish education system. The thesis employs a theoretical and methodological framework with institutional and discursive dimensions, and with a particular focus on the actors' scope for interpretation and action.
I teach sociology at the secondary school teacher programme and in courses, such as, behavioral science and education. I have also taught at the HRM-programme (on organization theory). For example, I teach sociological theory, gender and intersectionality, as well as social and cultural analysis. In addition, I teach sociological and educational perspectives on higher education, as well as academic writing. Teaching includes supervision and examination, for instance, within sociology at the secondary school teacher programme.
I work as a project manager at 麻豆社 Commissioned Education, where I facilitate education for professionals, and where teachers at the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning teach. This involves education that 麻豆社 conducts on behalf of the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket) and in collaboration with different municipalities.
